As we gathered together in the spring of 2021 to record films when we couldn't offer live concerts, we took a few minutes to put together this experiment of Pachelbel's beloved Canon & Gigue performed in the round, showing the passing along, down the line, of each one of Pachelbel's inventive variations on the ground bass line which is played 28 times. This is a recording from 1979 by the "WKO" (Württembergisches Kammerorchester), conducted by Joerg Faerber of the infamous baroque piece "Canon and Gigue in D" by german composer Johann Pachelbel. To day, i could not find a better transcription of the original as the basso continuo, normally played by harpsichord, here is played by a church organ which gives the heavenly characteristics of the piece a very deep and emotional sound. For a long time, i could not find the origin of this recording as i knew it only from a CD, embedded in a classical compilation without much information.
