apolitical presented VICTORY OF DEMOCRACY by Andrei Molodkin at Barletta Castle an historic military defence site on the Adriatic Sea. The exhibition opened on Liberation Day 25 April 2018 recognising the anti-fascist resistance the end to Mussolinis rule and Nazi Occupation. Inside the fortified castle walls marble sculptures from classical antiquity reflected an era of high-culture. In opposition to the immortalised history of wealth and grandeur Molodkins three large-scale acrylic vessels echoed the violent desires of todays reality a Capitalist era of poverty war and exploitation. VICTORY and DEMOCRACY installations are filled with the blood of refugees and crude oil from conflict zones exposing how our contemporary society is already in ruins.
