Nakamichi 682ZX Recording Auto Calibration DEMO Type 2 Tape After Full Recap Restoration

A Repeat Clients deck in for a full service - having been very pleased with his ZX-9 Service Previously. This ex Studio Deck had obviously been used and the ravages of time had seized it up. But the original owner wanted to relocate the deck to his home system to enjoy but before this it needed some work. The client reported an issue with the 15kHz level and balance which was throwing calibration off if indeed it started at all due to the transport condition. A full recap x166 was also requested. A couple of lamps were also US. The recapping took the best part of 3 days as these boards are very delicate and needed absolute temperature dwell control and 100 concentration at all times. High quality Nichicon Panasonic Wima caps were used throughout. 12V 30mA lamps were installed x 2 The transport rebuild was another absorbing task and setting it up to optimum performance and perfect tape tension with head and pinch roller positions precisely set up. Once back together the 15kHz tone issue was resolved and a full electrical recalibration performed to get the auto azimuth and auto level working nicely once again. It really is a marvel considering it is now 40 years old but can still perform to specs today. Doesnt it sound great? I am very satisfied and proud of this one.,
