Skyrim PS4 Commentary 154 Dawnguard: Prophet Chasing Echoes: Castle Volkihar

This is video 154 in my playthrough of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on the PlayStation 4. I am playing the game vanilla. This game has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB. After taking Serana home Davilas refused Lord Harkons offer to become a Volkihar Vampire. Then he helped the Dawnguard by recruiting Sorine and Gunmar. Now for Prophet he will work together with Serana to find a Moth Priest so that the Dawnguard can read the Elder Scroll. After resuming at home Davilas fast-travels to the College of Winterhold. In the Arcanaeum he asks Urag gro-Shub about a Moth Priest. Urag tells him that a Moth Priest had been here but had departed for Dragon Bridge. So Davilas must ask around in Dragon Bridge. Davilas fast-travels to Dragon Bridge. Of all the residents young Clinton Lylvieve is the most informative about the Moth Priest. Davilas must search along the road past the bridge southeast of Dragon Bridge. Davilas crosses the bridge and follows the road southeast. He soon finds an overturned cart with a dead soldier a dead vampire and a dead horse nearby. Searching the vampire Davilas finds the Vampires Note which indicates that the Moth Priest was to be taken to Forbears Holdout. After crossing the next bridge Davilas follows the patches of blood. Soon he finds the entrance to Forebears Holdout a cave. Inside Forebears Holdout there are vampires and Death Hounds waiting. In the fortification in this cave Davilas finds that a vampire named Malkus is holding the Moth Priest within a magic barrier while trying to break his mind. The first order of business is to defeat Malkus and his cronies. Malkus holds the Weystone Focus which Davilas must loot and place in the Weystone Source upstairs to deactivate the barrier. Afterwards since the Moth Priest has been enthralled Davilas must fight him. Eventually the Moth Priest will yield. This is Dexion Evicus. Davilas must talk to him and send him off to Fort Dawnguard to read the Elder Scroll. Davilas fast-travels back to Fort Dawnguard. In the entrance hall he talks to Isran and then Dexion. After a little small talk Dexion will read the Elder Scroll. It has a prophecy about Auriels Bow. The rest seems to confirm what Serana told Isran earlier. However Dexion will need a couple of other Elder Scrolls for more information: the Elder Scroll Dragon and the Elder Scroll Blood. Prophet completed! Two other quests begin: Chasing Echoes and Seeking Disclosure. For Seeking Disclosure Davilas must find the Elder Scroll Blood. He already found the Elder Scroll Dragon in the Tower of Mzark for the story quest Elder Knowledge. To find the other scroll Davilas must do Chasing Echoes and the ensuing quest. For Chasing Echoes Davilas first talks to Serana. She believes her mother Valerica knows about the other Elder Scroll. After some conversation they decide to check Castle Volkihar. Serana suggests that they seek an old escape tunnel in the north of the castle to get to the courtyard. Be sure to bring Serana along. Davilas fast-travels to Castle Volkihar. He sneaks around to the northern inlet where some Skeletons guard the secret entrance. Once the Skeletons are defeated Davilas goes through the Volkihar Undercroft. Death Hounds a Feral Vampire and various other vermin lurk down here. He must trip a couple of levers to lower two parts of a bridge. Eventually Davilas finds the exit to the Volkihar Courtyard. After observing the sad state of the courtyard Serana observes that something is wrong with the moondial. It is missing three crests around the outer circle. Davilas must locate three crests around the courtyard: the Half Moon Crest the Full Moon Crest and the Crescent Moon Crest. After gathering the three crests Davilas places them in their slots around the moondial. When the three crests are in place a secret stairway is revealed under the moondial. Downstairs Davilas enters the Volkihar Ruins. Skeletons and Gargoyles await throughout these passages. Several gates require some kind of switch to open. At the fireplace Davilas must turn a candlestick to open a secret passage. Davilas reaches the top of the tower. Next time he will see what awaits in Valericas laboratory. Thanks for watching!,
