4KHDR Driving in Germany: Autobahn A8 E52 from AS Esslingen am Neckar to AK Ulm

In this video you can drive along on the Autobahn A8 E52 from AS Denkendorf Esslingen am Neckar to Kreuz Ulm. Parts of this A8 segment I have already featured on the channel but never this entire stretch in a single video. Since I drive it every now and then I decided to film it again. The Autobahn exit Denkendorf is also the main access to the city of Esslingen pop. 100.000 from the A8. Alternatively you can take the B313 and B10 exiting the A8 from Kreuz Wendlingen 3:00. There are still quite a few construction sites on the A8 mainly due to the high speed rail line that is still being built from Stuttgart to Ulm part of Stuttgart 21 started in 2007. This multiple-billion euro megaproject has been significantly delayed but hopes to see trains running on the new traject in the upcoming years. For a big part it runs parallel to the A8. You can notice some of the more impressive new infrastructure around the part of the Albaufstieg where a massive twin rail bridge crosses the valley 10:45. The A8 will need to be expanded in the future as well but the project has to wait in line behind the Stuttgart 21 project. As a result the Albaufstieg one of the oldest Autobahn parts in Germany has been a permanent bottleneck for decades. Navigating the Albaufstieg and finding a new alignment for the A8 in the future with a 2x3 lane setup will be challenging. A fair question to ask is to what extent Stuttgart 21 has anticipated future road widening projects on the A8 past the Albaufstieg. You can see how the new rail line is very close to the Autobahn 13:20 with a dividing barrier being built at the moment. There doesnt seem to be a whole lot of space left for future A8 expansion. After reaching Ulm I continue my journey on the A7 South. Usually it is much faster to take the shortcut via Ulm B10. However for the video I drove via Kreuz Ulm this time - I hope you enjoy the ride along!
