SS RICHARD MONTGOMERY

SS Richard Montgomery was an American Liberty ship built during World War II. On 20th August 1944 she dragged anchor and ran aground on a sandbank near to the Medway Approach Channel. As the tide went down, the ship broke her back on sand banks near the Isle of Sheppey about 5 miles (8.0 km) from Southend. The salvage operation continued until 25th September, when the ship was finally abandoned before all the cargo had been recovered. Subsequently the vessel broke into two separate parts, roughly amidships. According to a survey conducted in 2000 by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the wreck still held munitions containing approximately 1,400 tonnes of high explosive. Monte Montgomery - Sultans Of Swing

In case you're wondering, no, I'm pretty sure this is not actual video of Monte playing this song, although the audio is definitely him. Apparently, somebody cobbled this together from another video of him playing something else and did a surprisingly good job for ten years ago. It's still out of sync in quite a few places though. I saw Monte play his solo set at the Cactus Cafe on the UT campus in Austin, TX around 2014 and called out for this one at one point but all I got was a weird look from him and "Didn't somebody put some out-of-sync video of that on YouTube?" or something like that. MONTGOMERY WHITEWATER PARK

In this SUPPAUL episode we visit the Montgomery Whitewater Park in Alabama. Scheduled to open to the public in July 2023, Cohen Atkins and I (Paul Clark SUPPAUL) were invited to test the park for its river paddle boarding potential. Spoiler... the "adventure channel" is very user freindly for learning to whitewater SUP and the "comp channel" will challenge the more experieced paddlers. It's going to be a wonderful park. We're curious how this and other whitewater projects will help revitalize communities throughout the South, including here in Montgomery.
