A 13 minute jam featuring Korg Monologue and Arturia MicroFreak, with effects from the Zoom MS-70CDR. UPDATE 2020-01-12: This track is part of my "Silver Glass" album on Bandcamp: The Monologue has been away to the repair shop for six months, and I finally got it back this week, so it seems fitting to do a jam with the Monologue up front and center. The MicroFreak has a supporting role on arpeggiated strings. The patches were made by me for this jam. The audio is recorded on a Korg KP2S and normalized in Audacity. Video is recorded on iPhoneX. Featuring a completely new two-pole filter and drive, expanded sixteen step sequencer, motion sequencing, and built-in facility for microtonal tunings, the Monologue offers a vast array of options for making everything from ripping leads to punchy basslines to churning sound effects. The Monologue's voice architecture is much like the Minilogue's: two VCOs, one VCF, one EG, one VCA, and one LFO. Some of the tone-shaping capabilities are carried over from the Minilogue, such as ring mod and oscillator sync. However, the Monologue also features an adjustable drive circuit and completely new filter that together can be used for both sutble and aggressive distortion effects. Arturia MicroFreak, Korg Monologue, Zoom MS-70CDR, Abacus

Here's a polymeter jam with the Arturia MicroFreak (5/4 meter) and the Korg Monologue (3/4 meter), with 2 Zoom MS-70CDRs filling in the gaps with delays and reverbs. My music on Bandcamp: The patches for the MicroFreak, Monologue and MS-70 are included below. The MicroFreak plays a custom patch with a wavetable oscillator and some random LFO modulation of timbre, filter and envelope slopes. The Freak plays two 64 step sequences that are identical, except that sequence B is one octave above sequence A. The melody in the sequence is in 5/4 meter, with one 4/4 bar at the end to use all 64 steps (5*12 + 4). In parts of the jam, I switch the MicroFreak from sequencer mode to arpeggiator mode.
