My LAST Metal Detecting Video? Garrett AT Max

Unfortunately, this is going to be my last metal detecting video. The UK has been placed into another lockdown which will be in place for the next 6 weeks as a minimum, which means no metal detecting. So my metal detectors have been put away for now, and the Saxon finds will have to wait to be found for a while. Im not sure how I will manage without my weekly metal detecting trips to the fields and my Garrett AT Max and ACE Apex will have to quiet their beeps. This is a dig before Christmas on a cold foggy day, I tried to dig as much as possible but got struck down with toothache on Christmas day which stopped me going out for the last few days. It was a very strange metal detecting trip. My train stopped somewhere else due to technical problems. I had to get out, change plans and find (very quickly) another area to hunt. I used satellite pictures (from Google Maps) on my phone to choose another forest. The beginning was rather disappointing, but I must have hit the right direction... Soon the first (good) targets started to appear. It was a difficult hunt, the place seemed to be crowded. I tried to keep distance and stay away from trails. Unfortunately even then I could not detect in peace... People can be very annoying. Even the deer acted weird. The Roman coins among pull tabs surprised me pretty much. First good target after only 30 seconds of hunting - a silver coin! I had a few good starts, this was one of them. I decided to begin my hunt at this particular place against my previous plans to try the opposite direction. Once again my intuition was right, but I had to pay the price afterwards... To be 100% sure I had to investigate this spot further against my feeling. In this episode I'm detecting a relatively small patch of a forest in more or less urban environment. It wasn't an easy experience. Once again the whole area has been "damaged" during WWII with craters, which left a lot of iron/copper pieces of shrapnel as a result. The terrain was also modified. In this case it's difficult to predict if older patches of soils could still be within reach or not, as it constantly changes. In the end it's all about psychology... With the bar set pretty low and accordingly adjusted expectations even a musket ball feels like a great find. It shows that with a little bit of luck anything is still possible. Metal Detecting First Day GTX5030

My first day on Gorleston Beach metal detecting using the GTX5030. For this beach and Great Yarmouth you do not need permission as the council grant it already but anything interesting you must declare within 14 days. This was my first day out, a lovely sunny day. It was so peaceful. In 5 mins I found a rusty nail, and was pleased I found something. Then I found quite a lot in the end. All junk but some of it interesting and I even found money - an old 2p. Turns out the 'ship hook' was (once I cleaned it up) clearly a 'horseshoe'. I found my swing needs to be in a big arc, nice and slow and step forward as I go. Hold coil low to the ground.
