Making Lathe MILLING Attachment

Is milling on a lathe possible? I decided to convince myself and convert my lathe into a milling machine. Installation of the attachment does not take more than a few minutes, so quite short. I can mill keyways, make longitudinal holes, or mill small areas. I think that for a hobbyist it can be a good solution, but if you want to mill frequently, buying a milling machine will be a better option. The vibration turned out to be a problem in my lathe. If I had a lathe that weighed a ton or more, it wouldn't be noticeable. Welcome back to the machine shop! This video I’ll be tackling a project I’ve wanted to revisit for 8 years; a bolt action copper pen. I manually machined a custom pen years ago as a Christmas gift for my father-in-law and have been itching to make one for myself. While I was able to find the old prints I threw together back then, I’ll start at the drafting board and put together proper engineering drawings. The will be made from both 110 copper and 410 stainless steel, with a few button head screws, and a nice ballpoint pen ink cartridge thrown in the mix. I love to make my own supplies and when these supplies are tools, there is tremendous gratification. I love pulling out a paintbrush that I made to utilize on my projects. Woodturning: Making A Ladle

In this video, I show how to create a completely turned wooden ladle. It's a multi-axis turning that gets a bit risky towards the end! It's first turned between centers, and then I create a wooden jam chuck that I use to hold the ladle while I hollow out the bowl. During that part of the process, the handle spins around like a propeller! This is a fun and fast project, but it does require a bit of skill. I would not recommend this as your very first turning.
