These are very distinct types of pickups that will make your guitar sound, and specially, feel a lot different. In this video I compare Single Coil to Humbucker in 4 Fender Telecasters. We're both looking at Fender Wide range Humbuckers and Gibson Style humbuckers and we're checking out all three combinations used on Telecasters: Single Coil/Single Coil, Single Coil/Humbucker and Humbucker/Humbucker. Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker Set Installation - PLUS - Copper Shielding To Kill The RF Noise

Kind of long but concise, first 20 minutes is the copper shielding application followed by the humbuckers installation. I bought the copper tape off of Amazon, the pickups were purchased at a guitar shop in Montreal. There were no instructions in the box , that was fun, but it all worked out in the end with a bit of compromise. The schematic that I used was based on one that was on the Fishman site but I modified it for a battery connection. I photo shopped the modification and posted it in the video, it can be seen at 19:33m. Although I had set out to install the passive pickup that wasn't being changed, the active circuit did not provide for this option. I am not a complex guitar player. I have played in garage bands and am most comfortable in the world of bar chords and distortion pedals. The one thing I have started to notice is a lot of guitars with multiple pickups and features are overkill for me. Most of the time I use only a single pickup and usually that is the pickup in the bridge position. In my opinion it sounds the best with a fuzz or distortion pedal. Recently I have been reading in forums (primarily for the Telecaster) and the subject periodically comes up about building a Telecaster with only a bridge pickup – reminiscent of the Fender Esquire. Mini Humbucker Telecaster

I built this Telecaster in 2013. I thought I would make it with a Mini Humbucker because I prefer that to the classic tele neck pickup. Based on James Burton wiring and 1963 Fender Custom colors, which are Shoreline Gold and Mint Green. My guitar is a totally unique, hybrid build with a treble bleed added in the mix. Dimarzio DP 240 Mini, Fender Lace Silver and a Dimarzio DP 618 Area T, in the bridge. Position 5 Neck, 4 Neck@Middle, 3 Neck@Bridge,2 Bridge@Middle, 1 Bridge. I am using a Fender Excelsior amp and my Rocka Rolla 2X10 cab with WGS Veteren 10"s. Plugged into a Digitech 255, I will try multiple modelings, for Demo purposes only.
