This is the first lecture of my official cybersecurity course at Cambridge. We have been teaching security to Cambridge undergraduates for over 25 years but I took over and redesigned the course in 2021-22. There is a strong emphasis on hands-on practice. If you engage with the course until the end, you will be able to recognise and exploit common vulnerabilities through such attacks as buffer overflow, SQL injection, cross-site scripting, cross-site request forgery and so forth.
