Ensoniq TS 10 (sound Demonstration)

The Ensoniq TS-10 was a synthesizer / music workstation introduced by Ensoniq in 1993. It featured synthesis, user sample playback, sequencer, effects and performance facilities in a 61-key package. Another version, with 76 weighted keys, but otherwise identical features except polyphonic aftertouch, was offered as the TS-12. Main Features The TS series sported 32-note polyphony, integrated 24-bit effects engine, (with 48 bit accumulation) a 30,000 note sequencer (expandable to over 100,000 via memory chips) which featured up to 24 tracks, full MIDI capabilities. I purchased this dilapidated Ensoniq SQ1 with a bunch of other gear recently. I thought I would just try to sell it for $50 or something. I wasn't sure if I should fix it up or just let it go as is to someone else. Eight keys are busted. Five keys wouldn't make a sound. Sticker residue stuck everywhere. Low battery warning. In a matter of 30 minutes, I had fixed all the no-sounding keys, purchased the 8 needed keys, replaced the battery (with a socketed one), and got rid of the sticker residue. This massive price cut came from Ensoniq founder and mad genius Robert Yannes invention of the "Q-chip" used in the Commodore 64 and Apple IIGS computer. With a max sample rate of 33k and 8-bit resolution this bitch sounds absolutely grimey. Ken Jordan of The Crystal Method said "The Mirage was just a total piece of crap. The Mirage sound was nothing like what you sampled. It's hilarious." Its saving grace is the Curtis CEM analog filters built in - like on the Oberheim OB-Xa and OB-8. ENSONIQ SD-1 Demo - "Palette"

"$D-1 PALETTE" is one of the demos included on the sequencer OS disk with the ENSONIQ SD-1 32 voice synthesizer. The song is comprised of 18 sequences. The opening sequence features the "WIDEPUNCH" and "RUDE-GUITAR" patches. Later we hear "PEDAL-STEEL" and "HARMONICA" and a jazz sequence with "VIBROPHONE" and "ACOUSTIBASS" patches. Following this are some synth patches including "ASCENSION" "NU-MEANING" "OMNIVERSE" "ELEMENTS" and "SD1-PAD" and then the song concludes with a sequence making use of various orchestral patches. The SD-1 contains two permanent ROM banks of sound programs or "patches" and a third RAM bank into which programs could be loaded from disk.
