On 29 May 1953, Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers confirmed to have reached the summit of Mount Everest. They were part of the ninth British expedition to Everest, led by John Hunt. Edmund Neupert: Valse Caprice

One of my very first videos was of a nocturne by the German-Norwegian pianist Edmund Neupert (1842–88). Neupert is remembered as having premiered Grieg's piano concerto (and possibly having written the first movement cadenza according to the Wikipedia article on him). I'm not sure when this attractive waltz-caprice was written or what set of pieces (if any) it comes from as it appears in an American anthology from 1902 of music by various Scandinavian composers. Neupert actually settled in New York in 1883 and worked as a piano teacher there until his untimely death.
