Riding with a stretching outline is one of the most important parts in successfully educating a horse. It helps the young or uneducated horse to carry the rider more easily and build the correct muscles. For the more advanced horse it provides relaxation between the intensive phases of work. For horses that have been badly ridden or trained incorrectly stretching allows for the re–establishment of “Losgelassenheit”—suppleness and relaxation both physically and mentally. But what does a correct stretching outline look like? What happens physically? What must a rider do to achieve this and when should one ask for it? Rohan: Gorgeous Dressage/Eventing Friesian Sporthorse!

Rohan is a talented 9 year old Freisian/Trakehner cross gelding. Has been evented for the past 3 years; competed at Novice and has schooled Prelim fences and Second Level dressage movements. Rohan is very easygoing and has ridden cross country as well as foxhunted in a French link snaffle. Nice jumper and beautiful Friesian movement! Rohan would make a great eventer for an amateur wanting a calmer horse, but I believe he has more potential in dressage. Could go FEI! Just won 1st and 3rd place at his first dressage show in over a year - with only one week of prep! Moves off the leg easily, very light in the mouth. Has simple changes and great lateral work. The career of Matine (by Silver Moon x Matador) was that of a shooting star rising high and then unfortunately crashing down like meteorite. Though she was well known in Denmark as a young dressage horse, she made her international break through and fame at a very rapid speed. Edward Gal rode the stars from the sky in the Anemone Horse Trucks award at Jumping Amsterdam. Gal rode GLOCK’s Total US (f. Totilas) in the Intermediaire I Freestyle with music to a fantastic score of 80.458%. Kirsten Brouwer came second with 10-year-old Foundation RR (f. United) and her class was rated 77.375%.
