Here is an 1980's style guitar backing track in the Key of A major or F# minor. Using IV, II, VI, V progression so never playing the I chord or home chord making the progression very interesting to play over! Over the first chord you get a lydian sound with A major which straight away gives you lots of colour to play with! You can as well just play your first position F# minor or blues scale and this sounds great! Experiment with arpeggios and different scales and even try following the chords if you can and with only 4 in this progression it's a lot easier and at a slower tempo of 100bpm.
