I started off talking editors, briefly discussed VBScripts and their use in Mastercam, then did QnA for while....oh, and at the end I gave away a couple camInstructor T-Shirts! Join the next live stream, more giveaways to come! I started off with talking about using different editors in Mastercam and gave reasons as to why you would pick one vs another. The editors I talked about... Mastercam Code Expert. Cimco - Mastercam install included version (free) Cimco - Full paid version Notepad - The windows standard text editor Notepad++ - Free software I consider the best text editor out there. With these editors I discuss the pros and cons of each and then give examples as to when you would benefit from using one vs the other. I could not cover absolutely everything offered in each, there's just too much. To summarize, with these different editors you want to use the one suited for the job you are trying to accomplish. If you need to do a lot of text editing, file comparing, want lots of customization...Notepad++ is the best bet. If you want to be able to backplot or simulate your gcode, Cimco is great choice. The built in features of Mastercams Code Expert are some not found elsewhere. If you need these functions, this is an obvious choice. Just know you can always switch your editors at any time. You are never locked into using only one...pick the one based on what is the best tool for the job.
