Theme: Inspired by ancient desert ruins like those in Egypt and the setting from Diablo 2's Second Act, this hideout is made with "Desert Ruin" theme. Wanted to make a hideout that was outdoor and well lit by default to give it that sunny desert vibe. Others: This is a light hideout which does not reach the maximum object in the hideout. There is microtransactions such as pet and light but is not required at all and can be removed/ignored.Welcome to Route B, which is not where you play as 2B! Instead, we're playing as 9S and seeing things from his perspective! Now, he's radically different from 2B when it comes to combat. After all, he's not a combat model, so he's not able to equip two weapons at once, Bayonetta style. Instead, his specialty is hacking! We only got the briefest of glimpses of it with 2B, but it's a real mainstay of 9S gameplay. Basically, hacking is an arcade-y type of minigame, styled after a twin stick shooter. The concept is simple enough: shoot the black core until it's destroyed. That's it! Who knew hacking was so easy? Eventually they throw in enemies and obstacles, though, and we're playing by baseball rules: three strikes and you're out. A success typically means a heavy explosion, so that's probably going to be your main method for damage. By the way, if you're wondering how to do heavy attacks with 9S without a heavy attack button, the trick is to do a short delay between inputs. I think it might have to be after the first input, which is part of why I personally struggled so much to figure it out in this video. Anyway, while this will obviously follow the same story trajectory, there's gonna be plenty of divergence, too. The prologue, for instance, is a completely different set of shooter segments and none of that "running around the factory" stuff because, well, 9S wasn't with 2B when that was happening! Oh, and shoutout to the game recording the sequence immediately following the prologue, where you can explore the settings under 9S's supervision. It's such a small thing, but it's a lovely touch to actually play it back after being told it was being recorded. It's also nice that they tell you that you can just skip it. Another thing to watch out for is a sprinkling of little vignettes like the one upon arriving at the housing area of the desert zone. They'll offer a little more background lore on the machines. I think that covers it. Sidequests are gonna be in shorter supply this time around, mainly because I took care of most of them as 2B. Next time will probably be the amusement park!
