I had an entire landing pad build decorated before I learned how to consistently add airlocks so I rebuilt to make it more ideal. By finding a reliable way to place airlocks on the landing pad was a game changer. It can still be frustrating to build on the landing pads but its 100% possible without mods. This is all vanilla, just using a little bit of building techniques/glitches to get it to work. I do use console commands to add the npcs, but as far as building goes, no commands and no mods. I show how to build on the landing pad towards the end of the video. When designing a more research work oriented build its always nice to build by a POI because it makes it seem like theres a city nearby where work can get done, it adds to the immersion a bit. This is my first time using the large landing pad because I just felt it was so big and plain but being able to build on it really makes a difference. I'm happy with how this turned out and hopefully it can give you some ideas!
