Partita for Violin No. 2 in D Minor, BWV 1004 is a work by Johann Sebastian Bach, written between 1717 and 1720. It is included in his cycle "Sonatas and Partitas for solo Violin". It consists of the following parts: The final part ― "Ciaccona" ― is written in the form of variations and lasts about as long as the first four parts combined. The chaconne is the most famous part of the partita and is often included in the concert program as a separate work with the status of a masterpiece of classical violin music.
