Good day everyone, here is my cover of the one song whose name shall not be pronounced! The guitar work is as twisted as the lyrics and frankly it was a lot harder to record than it seems! A fair few of you have requested that I cover Split Wide Open, and whilst listening to it, I rediscovered this song that I never really paid attention to (despite the name…), and that second riff caught my attention because of how catchy it is! It’s also the first song I cover from this album (other than Hammer Smashed Face) and I will definitely do more from it! For the sound, all it took was a little EQing and tweaking of the preset I used on my Butchered at Birth covers, always using the trusty AXP Flextron to emulate that thicc Ampeg sound from the early 90’s! Other recordings I like are by Rabin, Friedman, Szeryng, Kaler and the video Mintz made playing Paganini's violin. After actually listening to clips I downloaded of this about 15 years ago from napster, I only recently decided to buy a legitimate copy of this only to find it is out of print which is shocking in hindsight because I would have to says this recording is almost as good - the tempo of the first movement is just a hir fast but the cadenza especially impressed me. This is truly a recording that should be heard and not be forgotten so I had to upload it. As for Vieuxtemps 5, I have always liked Zukerman's recording best but I equally like the recordings of Kogan and Mintz. I can't really say I like any of those recordings more than this one. In my mind, this cd reveals Mulloa to be among the greatest to ever play a violin, other than that she just so happens to be quite beautiful. I have included many photos found on the web including the 'Jules Falk' strad (which was bought for her from Sotheby's in April 1985) and Kogan handing her the the prize for winning the Tchak competition 1982. Most of you already know she studied with Leonid Kogan and she won the Sibelius competition in 80 and the Tchaik competition in 82. ♪♫♪ ♪♫♫♪ This is a continuation of my old account from 6 years ago (rareviolintreasures), I started running out of things to upload that were out of print or rare and was just too tired to continue because I was working in excess of 100 hour weeks. My intention was to get the majority of recordings I had that were difficult to find, once I felt I had accomplished this goal, I decided it was time to stop. A few months later I somehow got locked out of my account so 6 years later I am ready to resume. It was my hope that many collectors would continue where I left off and I'm amazed and delighted to see how many recordings have been made public in my absence. I have always encouraged sharing out of print recordings but it is upsetting to see recordings made public of recordings that are still commercially available. Alot has changed in my 6 year absence as some things that were in print no longer are and vice versa, so keep in mind I no longer have access to my old account and can not modify or delete anything I put up before, it has always been my intention to not share recordings that still are in print as this would reduce support for the artist. It is my intention to only share music that is no longer commercially in print as I am as respectful as I can be to artists and record companies that continue to make their art available to fans like me. My intention is to share recordings to make recordings available so they do not get lost or forgotten. It is also my wish to share recordings for fans like me but also for the purpose of those who study the violin and encourage all who listen to acquire their own personal copy of these recordings in the used cd/lp market, in other words even though you hear it here on you tube for free, get your own legitimate copy if you hear something you like. I also would like to encourage others to fill in the gaps and pick up where I let off with recordings I don't have or may have missed, but only if the recordings have gone out of print.
