Die sanfte und hochalpine Wanderwelt rund um Mittenwald mit Karwendelbahn und Kranzberg-Sessellift wird Sie begeistern. Mittenwald ist eine der größten Städte im Karwendel. Nach Innsbruck, Schwaz in Tirol und Hall in Tirol ist der Markt Mittenwald die viertgrößte Stadt im Karwendelgebiet. Nicht ganz 7.500 Einwohner werden gezählt. Der Ort hat eine lange Geschichte. Schon die Römer waren hier, eine bekannte Römerstraße führte hier entlang, die Via Claudia Augusta. 1096 wurde Mittenwald erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. 1305 wurde der Ort zum Markt, mit dem Marktrecht – die Flößerei florierte und der Handel. Seite 1689 wird der Geigenbau in Mittenwald betrieben. Du kannst dir heute das Geigenbaumuseum in der Altstadt anschauen, Geigenbauer gibt es auch noch und sogar eine Geigenbauschule. Mit der Eröffnung der Karwendelbahn, das ist die Bahnlinie zwischen Garmisch Partenkirchen und Innsbruck, konnten auch die Urlauber kommen. Das war 1912. Grund für die Urlaub war damals und heute u.a. die Lüftlmalerei Mittenwald. Vom Dekan-Karl-Platz kannst du der Obermarkt – Straße entlang spazieren und kommst so direkt zu den schönen historischen Häusern von Mittenwald. Die meisten Geschäfte befinden sich hier zum Einkaufen und Shoppen. Gleichzeitig kannst du die vielen Lüftlmalereien bewundern. Die meisten Häuser hier tragen die Malereien auf den Hausfassaden. Но не только скрипичными мастерами известен этот провинциальный городок. Его жители превратили свои дома в художественные полотна, создав своеобразный уличный вернисаж. Каждый домовладелец считал долгом чести нанять художников и украсить фасад своего жилища произведением так называемой "воздушной живописи". Посетивший в 1786 году Миттенвальд Гёте, назвал город "ожившей книжкой-картинкой".
