The second performance of my piece included in the Royal Danish Academy's PULSAR Music Festival 2021, "Caught in Your Chrysalis, We Grow", performed by Isabel Godau (violin), Romena Lengvinaitė (accordion), and Hjörtur Páll Eggertsson (cello). It was inspired and solely based upon a piece by the same name, "Caught in Your Chrysalis, We Grow", by the masterful Portland Oregon-based artist Hazel Glass. www.artbyhazelglass.com I wanted to convey a sense of growing outward from nothing, beginning from the very first paper layer in the background, and slowly evolving into the foreground. From the aging of the wood it is obviously quite old at least from about 1900, prabably older. It shows the typical German construction method. Inside is a repair label "Reconstructed by John Peel, Whitby Ont, 1944". Mr. Peel probably installed the full length glued in Bassbar and regraduated the smooth top. It was begging to be played again and so Schnefsky went to work. Various small cracks were glued with cleats added inside the table. Corner bouts were added to the upper end. Some of the peg holes had to be plugged then redrilled due to wear. A new fingerboard had to be installed, plus soundpost, nut, tuning pegs, endpin, and tailpiece. The strings are D'addario Ascente. The final sound and tone is amazing. Jeff Taylor is a professional musician based in Toronto Canada. He is the main violin teacher at The Bradford Academy of Music.
