Her engagement ring consists of 14 solitaire diamonds surrounding a 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire set in 18-karat white gold. It was created by jeweler Garrard and cost at the time, 28,000 pounds sterling. Diana's selection of this ring was unusual. It was neither custom-made nor unique and was, at the time of her engagement to Charles, featured in Garrard's jewellery collection and available to anyone for purchase. Some commentators say Diana selected it because it reminded her of her mother's engagement ring. Jewellery historian Leslie Field stated: "She [Diana] had obviously already said she would like a sapphire; she had half a dozen rings [to select from] and she chose this one purely because she liked it." Fields continued: "Somebody came up with the story that she immediately went for the biggest, but I asked her and she told me it definitely wasn't the biggest, she simply thought it was very beautiful." After Diana's death, Princes William and Harry selected mementos from their mother's possessions. Harry chose the engagement ring, while William selected Diana's £19'000 yellow gold Cartier Tank Francaise watch. They eventually exchanged mementos. When Prince William proposed to Catherine Middleton in the fall of 2010, he gave her the ring. Middleton eventually had the ring resized. It was a size H, and prior to her wedding, she asked Crown Jewellers G Collins and Sons to attach two platinum studs to it to make it a size I. This video is targeted to blind users. Visit us at: http://www.thegreenery.ca/ Join our Facebook Gardening Fan Club: https://www.facebook.com/greenerykelowna Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/greenerykelownaRosemary Garlic Shoestring Fries Our recipe: Ingredients- 6 ea- small to med russet potatoes (peeled and sliced with a mandolin) 1.5 qt- canola oil 4 ea- cloves garlic (chopped fine) 1 ea- sprig rosemary (chopped fine) 1 TBSP- seasoning salt or personal seasoning preference 1 TBSP- white vinegar Sea Salt Method: Peel and slice your potatoes with a mandolin using a julienne or french fry slice. Soak the potatoes in water with vinegar and sea salt to remove the potato starches. The vinegar will hep keep the potatoes fresh and free from oxidization. Drain and dry the potatoes completely with a kitchen towel. Replace with another towel and dry again. Heat pan in 350 degree oil. Place the potatoes (one hand full at a time) in oil and brown completely. Fry in batches to not over crowd. If you use a julienne cut, there is no need to blanch the fries as they will become crispy on the first fry. Season as soon as they come out of the oil and toss with seasoning. We also made a Garlic Aioli. Recipe Ingredients: 2 ea- egg yolks 4 ea- garlic cloves Splash- Worcestershire sauce 1/4 cup- olive oil (more if needed) 1 TBSP-lemon juice 1 tsp- Kosher salt Method: Add the egg yolks, salt, Worcestershire, lemon juice and garlic to a food processor. Pulse the processor to begin to thicken the yolks. Slowly drizzle the olive oil to emulsify a little at a time. Continue the process adding a little olive oil until the mixture becomes firm. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours and the mixture will thicken like mayonnaise. Plate the fries with a bowl of Aioli and enjoy. Also, you may want to propagate more of these prized plants - particularly some of the lovely large frilly varieties. Lots of people with videos on Youtube dehead their plants too far down the trunk. While it is easier to make the cut and it perhaps looks better for the camera, if you do it that way you risk loosing your head plant, because the stalk will not root down easily and you wont get many, if any, offsets on the stem. Here I demonstrate the best way for maximising offsets, while still giving your lovely original the best chance of thriving.
