Die Evangelisch-Freikirchliche Gemeinde Hannover-Kronsberg (Baptisten) nutzt seit 2005 die Räumlichkeiten für ihre Gottesdienste mit. Seit September 2014 ist im Kirchenzentrum auch das Projekt Stadtkloster-Kirche der Stille beheimatet. Die Glocken für das Kirchenzentrum wurden von der 1965 errichteten und 2001 entwidmeten St.-Ansgar-Kirche in Hannover-Hainholz übernommen. Aus Bronze sind diese 1963 bei Gebrüder Rincker in hessischem Sinn hergestellt und in einem Gottesdienst am 2. Advent 2001 vorgestellt worden. Glocke 1: a1 (610 kg), Glocke 2: h1 (383 kg), Glocke 3: d2 (290 kg), Glocke 4: e2 (219 kg). Das Kirchenzentrum befindet sich am Hauptplatz (Thie) der Expo-Siedlung in Nachbarschaft mit dem Kommunalen Kultur- und Sozialzentrum KroKuS. Hannover erhielt am 14. Juni 1990 den Zuschlag für die Weltausstellung Expo 2000, worauf Ende der 1990er Jahre auf dem Kronsberg die Expo-Siedlung entstand. Ab Mitte der 1990er Jahre wurde innerhalb der Ev.-luth. Landeskirche Hannovers über eine Kirche auf dem Kronsberg nachgedacht. Zu Christi Himmelfahrt am 25. Mai 1995 wurde ein erster ökumenischer Gottesdienst am Wasserwerkswäldchen auf dem Kronsberg gefeiert. Das Kirchenzentrum Kronsberg war zunächst als ökumenisches Projekt geplant. Nach dem Rückzug der römisch-katholischen Diözese Hildesheim wurde der evangelisch-lutherische Stadtkirchenverband Hannover alleiniger Träger in Kooperation mit der Gesellschaft für Bauen und Wohnen Hannover (GBH). Am 17. Mai 1999 begannen mit dem ersten Spatenstich die Arbeiten am Kirchenbau am Kronsberg. Mit einem Gottesdienst, in dem die damalige Landesbischöfin Margot Käßmann predigte, und einem Fest wurde das Kirchenzentrum am 8. Oktober 2000 eingeweiht und in Gebrauch genommen. Das Kirchenzentrum entstand unter dem Motto Anders wohnen auf dem Kronsberg – Leben in einem modernen Kloster. Auf dem 1997 erworbenen Grundstück entstand in einem an die alte Klosterform angelehnten Baukörper ein Sakralraum, der schlicht in Beton und Glas gehalten wurde. Rund um einen offenen Brunnenhof (Paradies) entstanden insgesamt 25 behindertengerechte, Sozial- und Eigentumswohnungen sowie die Wohnungen für den Küster und den Pastor. Der von allen Seiten öffentlich zugänglich Baukomplex erscheint als modernes Kloster, zugleich als Schutzraum. Ein Rahmen aus Sichtbeton umfasst Gebäudehoch den Kirch- und Gemeinderaum, das Pfarrhaus und die anderen Gebäude. Die Außenwände der beiden Wohngebäude und das Pastorat sind unterschiedlich gestrichen: rot (Sozialwohnungen), gelb (Eigentumswohnungen) und blau (Pastorat).
