Il corridore lucano reputa fino ad oggi «un Giro d'Italia positivo, sul piano personale. A parte la parentesi, comunque superata, dell'incidente nel finale di tappa di Viggiano». Riguardo al suo attacco negli ultimi chilometri della seconda frazione appenninica, Pozzovivo ha precisato che «è stata un'azione molto simile a quella di due anni fa a Lago Laceno. In questo contesto però c'erano due uomini in fuga che hanno tenuto molto bene. Circostanza questa che non mi ha permesso di vincere la tappa». Adesso però, riflettori puntati soprattutto sulla prova contro il tempo di dopodomani, la Barbaresco-Barolo di quasi 42 chilometri che, almeno per quanto lo riguarda, Pozzovivo non ritiene che «la crono sia per me una sorta di spauracchio, anche se sarà certamente un passaggio molto importante per tutti gli uomini di classifica. Una percorso che non ho avuto modo di testare, analizzandolo soltanto sulla carta. Ho avuto l'impressione che possa assomigliare molto a quella che disputai lo scorso anno alla Vuelta nella quale ebbi modo di comportarmi molto bene». Come già accennato, è seguito poi l'intervento di Clemente Russo con il quale inevitabilmente, uno degli argomenti trattati, hanno riguardato il velocista francese Nacer Bouhanni, che prima che prima di passare al ciclismo, "ha tirato di boxe" -- come si dice in gergo -. Un percorso inverso a quello del pugile campano che ha precisato di non sapere «a quali livelli Bouhanni abbia praticato il pugilato. Gli ho visto vincere due belle tappe, anche se personalmente confido molto nel nostro Elia Viviani. Il mio idolo negli sprint però, resterà sempre Mario Cipollini». Clemente Russo si è poi sbilanciato sul pronostico di chi vincerà il Giro.
