This video is analyzing both the reharmonization or arrangement of Softly as in a Morning Sunrise and some of the phrases she plays over it in her solo. In the video I discuss how she uses modern and modal harmony in the reharmonization but also how some of her phrases are clearly coming out of a tradition based on players like Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass.
