Subsun EP The record opens with the title track Subsun which is a warm shaker-driften deep house track. Johannes Brecht (Sunday-Music) also contributed to this record with a remix of the title track. It is a more up front housy version utilizing classic 909 elements, live recorded percussion and a significant Hookline. The B side features the more minimalistic bassline-driven track Bubbler. Philip used various percussion instruments as well as the moog synthiesizer to give the track its rolling, pumping ryhtm. The remix by Costa Rican Duo Huba&Silica features vocals and a more straight forward beat, turning it into a different track. The thus created mood nicely rounds up and closes the EP. This four track EP is a wonderful addition to any deep house collection. Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Patrice Marshall McKenzie, Alexis Abernathy of the Links Altadena/Pasadena chapter, Mikala Rhan on Learning Works, Florence Annang of the NAACP, and Juliana Serrano of All Saints Church will each have two minutes to make their case for a seat on the commission.
