The locations of your components will determine how you run you cables but the connection points are what I'm clarifying here. but basically run all your cables to where you'll be fitting the switch and you can fit the relais and buzzer near by. This diagram and explanation will work on either omnistep, the fold out step on a motorhome or the slide out type on most panel van conversions. I've included the relais and buzzer option as its our standard set-up on our builds, this is for automatic retraction when the engine starts to run so you don't drive off with it out and rip it off on a gate post or another vehicle. You can get the relais kit online or through Magnum motorhomes website, it comes with the diode and connectors, although you may need to get some blue female connectors as the red ones supplied don't allow much room for more than one wire. https://magnummotorhomes.co.uk/ peizo buzzers can be found on ebay or amazon relatively cheap.
