I recently bought the Seagate Hybrid XT 250GB HDD and mirrored the entire HDD over using Linux dd_rescue, basically to improve its HDD performance. The only things I carried out since on this Windows 7 installation include installing Service Pack 1, the latest Windows updates, Samsung drivers/software updates and the latest Firefox and Chrome browsers. No antivirus is installed. I never thought of taking a before video, but then again I wasn't expecting this dramatic difference in booting, especially on a Netbook. This Netbook is a Samsung N120 with 2GB of RAM. For some reason, Windows 7 shows a Vista-like scroll bar during start-up instead of the colourful Window animation on this Netbook. No tweaks, disk defragmentation or other preparation was done before carrying out this video.
