Today on our 2019 Chevrolet Blazer, we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Premium Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack. The rack that we have here today is able to hold a total of up to four bikes. But if you do need to carry an extra run, there's also a five bike version available as well.So the bike is going to be held down in three spots. We're going to have two straps here along the top tube and a strap down here. This is actually going to act as an anti sway strap. And what that's going to do is help prevent that side to side movement. That way you don't have to worry about your bikes banging into each other. That being said, let's go ahead and remove our bike and we can take a better look at the rack itself. Way it works, you just pull the straps off of the tabs there and flip them out of the way. We're able to grab the bike and pull it off the rack.So the cradles where your bikes frame is going to sit are adjustable and that's going to help accommodate different types of frames. And we're going to have multiple different anchor points, that way you can set your strap at different locations to find that best placement to keep your bike the most secure. I do really like the straps. They are nice and thick and heavy duty. And to me, they feel like they should last a long time. I don't really think they're going to get sun faded or really too worn out. With that being said, whenever we're not using the rack, I do recommend to put the straps back in place. That way we don't have to worry about losing them.Now, one thing that is a little bit different about this rack compared to some of the other ones, is here at the end, the rack is actually going to get a little more narrow. That's going to do a couple of things. First one being it's going to make it a little bit easier to pull your bikes off from way back here. You're not going to have to wiggle the bike and fight it just to get it off the rack. Second one being since this arms are more narrow, this is going to work really well for those smaller frame bikes like children's bikes for example.Since this rack can carry quite a few bikes, it is going to extend the overall length of our Blazer by quite a bit. So if I measure from the hatch here to the end of the rack, it's going to be right about 37 inches. So that's something to keep in mind whenever you go to pull in your garage or maybe even a tight parking spot, but the good news is arms do swing down to free up some space. They way we do that, if we move over here, we're going to pull this little clip off and we can remove the pin. Now, if you do plan on driving around with the rack in this position, you should reinstall that pin and that's just going to help keep everything nice and secure.And now in this position, it does free up quite a bit of space. So if you take that same measurement in the hatch to the edge of the rack, it's only going to be about 10 and a half inches. So in this position, you shouldn't have any issues at all when you go to pull on your garage or that tight spot.One of the big questions we get asked in regards to hitch-mounted bike racks is if you're still going to be able to have full access to your hatch. And this one does fold down out of the way and allows us to do that. If you move down here, we're going to have a knob, and if you loosen that knob up, it allow us to remove this clip and pull the pin out. We're going to have a handle right here, pull up on it, and that allows the rack to fall down out of the way. Now in this position, we're going to have plenty of room to get anything we might need in and out of the back of our Blazer.So the rack is going to work with two inch by two inch receiver tube openings, like we have here today on our Blazer. And it's also going to come with an anti rattle bolt. More or less that replaces the traditional style hitch pin. And what that's going to do is take up any slope or play in our connection point. Not only keeping the ride inside of our Chevy a lot more quiet, but also a little bit smoother ride for bikes.
