Aún así, el Ecosport aún aguanta el tirón con una imagen que no pasa de moda, a pesar de que desde 2018 no recibe una mínima actualización. A prueba aquí el Ford Ecosport 1.0 140 CV ST-Line 6V. Es la mejor oferta mecánica disponible, ya que la otra opción es el mismo motor de tres cilindros con 125 caballos y el otro acabado es el Active, un poco más caro y con un aspecto algo más campero, pero sin volverse loco. Mucho que analizar de un coche que espera sentencia para su futuro: Renovarse o morir. No está electrificado, no goza de la última conectividad, ni detalles estéticos que rompan corazones. Ni siquiera tiene motores potentes o una habitabilidad fuera de lo común. A pesar de ello en el departamento de comunicación de Ford nos aseguran que, cada mes, en la lista de ventas de la marca, aparecen un puñado del pequeño urbanita que, en alguna ocasión, tuvo tracción 4x4 e incluso cambio automático para poder competir de tu a tu con sus rivales, algo de lo que ahora no goza. El coche que hemos probado decepciona un poco por pequeños y medianos detalles. Es cierto que el 1.0 Ecoboost de tres cilindros hace lo que puede y mejora poco a poco, pero aún tiene margen de mejora. No destaca en potencia, ni aceleraciones ni en consumos, pero tampoco es el peor en cada apartado. Sus 180 Nm de par motor y los más de 10 segundos en el 0 a 100 km/h no son cifras de referencia, pero se defiende como gato panza arriba. De hecho, su motor estira hasta las 6.700 vueltas, aunque en ningún rango del tacómetro tiene un especial tirón. Eso sí, por debajo de 2.000 rpm está bastante ko. Sin embargo, a nivel dinámico aguanta con entereza. Sus llantas de 18 pulgadas del acabado más deportivo no son las ideales para demostrar agilidad, pero sus 1.355 kilos de peso son coherentes, aunque el centro de gravedad es más alto de lo esperado, 19 centímetros de altura al suelo. En el interior, hay espacio notable, no hay puntos que te arrebaten ni te sorprendan, pero cumple con creces cualquier pretensión para los 4,09 metros que ofrece de tamaño. De hecho, los asientos traseros son realmente notables, y las plazas traseras tienen bastante espacio, por encima de la media. El tema del maletero no es reseñable, aunque la ausencia de rueda de repuesto y los acabados, muy mejorables, sí que dejan algo que desear. Los consumos tampoco son brillantes. El 6,3 en el Madrid-Toledo es decepcionante para un motor que en sus primeros años ganó un montón de premios… nunca lo entendimos, con la mano en el corazón. Los 7 litros de media tras 400 kilómetros en consumo combinado son más que discretos. Y encima, en el catálogo no disponemos de ningún tipo de hibridación, ni diesel, ni nada. La rumorosidad no está contenida y alguna pieza es más que mejorable en cuanto a sus ajustes, pero no es menos cierto que está bien equipado y su ordenador de a bordo está bien estructurado y da toda la información necesario y a la vez, algo que es digno de aplaudir. Reiteramos aquí, por cierto, nuestro agradecimiento a Ford por reaccionar tan rápido a nuestras necesidades después del agujero en el planning que nos hizo el responsable de flota de Renault y Dacia, uno más, que esta vez, hemos podido subsanar sólo a última hora y con poco margen de tiempo. En cuanto a precios, la web de Ford no da la opción de configurar el motor de 140 CV, aunque en catálogos pasados suponía un sobre coste de unos 500 euros con respecto al de 125 CV, que sí se puede configurar. El precio del 125 con acabado Style es 27.190 euros, 4.000 euros más que en julio de 2022, es alucinante lo de la inflación en el mundo del automóvil. Con los extras que lleva nuestra unidad, azul desert island incluido, nos vamos más allá de los 30.000 euros, mucho dinero para este coche, con sinceridad. Si financias te descuentas 5.600 euros, que es una pasta, aunque luego ya sabes que hay periodo obligatorio de permanencia, TAE, etcétera, y acabas pagando bastante más, aunque de manera más cómoda. Up to you. En la escala “Me lo compraría”, la nota del Ford Ecosport es 6,1. Aprueba sin problema, es una opción coherente, pero frente a sus rivales está lejos en tecnología, en variedad de motores y en muchas cosas más.
