I'm currently working on a website and I have a logo that's got a black background. I want to make it transparent. I'm gonna quickly show you how to use Gimp to do that. in about four steps. 1. Create an Alpha Channel in the Layer by going to Layer - Transparency - Add Alpha Channel 2. Select the Color Picker tool and click on the background color to select all of the background color 3. Delete the background color by clicking on Edit - Clear 4. Export the file as PNG (to retain the transparency) by clicking on File - Export As - PNG and giving the file a name. Make sure to add the .png at the end of the file name. When I go to open up this file it's gonna look like this. It's black because that's the black background of my actual screen, but it's completely transparent. You don't see that box anymore, so that's it. Hope that was helpful.
