The game was famous because the 2nd quarter took 61 minutes to play, Brennan blew a big lead, and OC fumbled the ball at the 1 instead of trying a game winning field goal near the end of regulation. From 2014-2017 Brennan appeared in all 4 district title games while O'Connor played in the last 3 (Brandeis was in the inaugural game in 2014). The 2017 version had no playoff implications because Brennan was guaranteed to go division 2 while O'Connor was guaranteed to go division 1. Brennan blew a 15 point lead, then missed the go ahead extra point after scoring the game tying touchdown with 3:44 left. The Panthers drove inside the 10 with under a minute left but did not attempt a field goal. The Panther running back fumbled the ball on the goal line, Brennan recovered, and the match went into extra possessions. Brennan failed to score on their possession while Michael Lyssy ended the madness with a field goal on their possession and OC won the district title.
