What Is Terraform? | How It works? | Terraform Architecture | Malayalam DevOps engineers really wish to have this tool in place to provision and manage the infrastructure in a cloud environment - which is Terraform. This video details about what is Terraform and why this Infrastructure as code (IaC) is so important in provisioning the infrastructure. Terraform in a nutshell - It’s a tool for infra provisioning and monitoring which allows you to manage your infrastructure, your platform and services that run on the platform. I also uses declarative approach and its Open source. This is used mainly to 1. Create infrastructure - such as setting up VPC, spinning up the servers, setup network, deploying docker etc 2. Managing the infrastructure - suppose there is suddenly a requirement for adding 5 more servers or adding Databased etc 3. Replicating the infrastructure - replicate the same production environment to testing and staging etc. Also mentioning about the components of Terraform or Terraform Architecture 1. Terraform CORE - which uses 2 inputs - Config and STATE and PLAN what needs to be done using these inputs. 2. Providers - such as AWS, Azure, GCP or other high level components such as Kubernetes Finally listing the core Terraform commands which allows the infrastructure provisioning. That are 1. REFRESH : to query the infra provider to get the current state 2. PLAN : create an execution plan – decide what needs to be done from taking the inputs or creating logical plan 3. APPLY : Execute the PLAN 4. DESTROY : Destroy the resource or Infrastructure - Removing elements one by one and cleaning up the whole system.
