The conference features presentations from developers and end users of Kubernetes, Prometheus, Envoy, and all of the other CNCF-hosted projects - Learn more at https://kubecon.io Extending Kubernetes - Lessons Learned From an L4 Ingress Implementation - Srinivas Brahmaroutu, IBM This talk will focus on how to connect your workloads running in Kubernetes using vendor provided Hardware LoadBalancer. When a service is created with type LoadBalancer, Kubernetes Service Controller automates the creation of an instance of LoadBalancer with external IP that can be reached by the clients of your application. The firewall rules are also properly configured by the cloud provider for your service object. The intent of our talk is to provide you with necessary information on how loadbalancers work and how to use them with Kubernetes workloads. Implementation for LB varies in their design, implementation and capabilities they expose. In this session we will firstly share our experiences working with loadbalancers on different cloud providers. We will also discuss how to share LoadBalancers among workloads to be cost effective and user friendly without vendor lock-in. https://sched.co/YVxrWhat does “cloud native” actually mean? To combat this, cloud, microservices, and other modern solutions come up more and more in architectural decisions. Here is the question: Is Java prepared to deal with these diverse concepts in a corporate environment? Yes, and to demonstrate how Jakarta EE and Eclipse MicroProfile work very well and in the cloud, the Payara and Platform.sh will work together on this webinar. Join us, and make your conclusions. • What does cloud and cloud-native mean. • Best practices around cloud native and micro-services • Payara Micro and Cloud • High level intro and comparison of Jakarta EE and MicroProfile • Platform.sh Introduction • Running Payara Micro applications on Platform.sh • Q&A Source code: https://github.com/platformsh-examples/payara-micro Free PDF of discussed content here: https://www.payara.fish/page/payara-platform-and-paas-with-platform-sh/ Head to https://www.payara.fish/ if you would like to learn more. Try it now in Azure : https://azuremarketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/apps/tidalmediainc.docker-ubuntu?tab=Overview Using containers allows to quickly assemble all the elements together ensuring that the transition between development, QA and production environment is smooth and consistent. Docker Engine accordingly is a specific technology to build and run containers using its own components and services. The components included in it are as follows: Docker daemon is a server interacting with the OS and performing various services (like creating and managing Docker objects: images, containers, networks, and volumes) REST API specifies interfaces that programs can use to interact with the daemon Command Line Interface (CLI) client interacts with the Docker daemon via the API. As Docker Engine lets create new containers quickly and easily, the rapid iteration of the applications can be enabled, and the overall visibility of changes will be increased. Docker containers are lightweight and can run almost everywhere. They can be deployed on desktops, as well as in huge data centers and moved from a testing environment into the cloud and back without significant efforts. With Docker Engine - Community, the installation to Ubuntu Linux environments becomes easy and simple, and then the developer gets a stable way to build, ship, and run distributed applications at any scale.
