The idea of a desktop native app is an application that is built for the desktop and calls specific platforms API's now there are two flavors if you want to say so one is the truly native compiled application that does not need an execution environment. A good example is visual C++ with MFC, OT, Delphi, and C++ Builder (VCL), other C++ compilers. Based on managed execution environments (like .net or Java) visual studio .Net (WinForms, WinRT) Java clients etc. The two groups above have differences in terms of dependencies and requirements, only the first is fully native. But that is clearly a very low level and kind of tedious type of code. In all of these cases what you get is a binary application that might have some internal structure but all it does is called native. API platform APIS I also have a feeling that there is some lack of knowledge around the native tooling that has existed.
