endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ercp) What is endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography ERCP procedures? What is ERCP? Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, or ERCP, is a procedure to diagnose and treat problems in the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas. It combines X-ray and the use of an endoscope—a long, flexible, lighted tube. Is ERCP a high risk procedure? All surgeries carry a level of risk. Undergoing ERCP can lead to complications involving infection, bleeding, perforation, or inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis). However, the procedure offers a potential cure for certain GI diseases—and an alternative to invasive procedures that require longer recovery. Is an ERCP considered surgery? An ERCP is a minimally invasive interventional procedure that is part of the diagnostic and treatment plan for a number of gastrointestinal conditions. Your ERCP will require that you dedicate about a day to the procedure and recovery. You may experience substantial relief as a result of this intervention. Are ERCP painful? Although many people worry about discomfort from the endoscopy, most people tolerate it well and feel fine afterwards. Medications will be given through the IV line during the procedure. A plastic mouth guard is placed between the teeth to prevent damage to the teeth and endoscope. How many hours does a ERCP take? The procedure most often takes between 1 and 2 hours. Will I be asleep during ERCP? ERCP is usually an outpatient procedure, which means you go home the same day. The procedure can take one to two hours. You'll receive IV anesthesia (medicine to calm you). You'll be awake for the procedure, but you probably won't remember any of it. Can I go home after ERCP? Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatogram (ERCP) You will be able to go home after your doctor or a nurse checks to make sure that you are not having any problems. If you stay in the hospital overnight, you may go home the next day. The Rapid Engagement Precision Rifle, or REPR, was made for those who like the concept of the SASS, Semi Automatic Sniper System, but need a lighter overall weight. The heart of this rifle is the 18" Heavy Profile 416 Stainless Steel barrel with a 1:10" twist rate. A Melonite treatment makes this one of the most durable, longest lasting barrels available. The muzzle is threaded and an AAC 51T Blackout flash hider/sound suppressor adapter. A lightweight free floating quad rail handguard is equipped, maximizing accuracy, and offering ample space for accessories, such as the included Harris bipod. The lightweight handguard and the barrel flutes under the handguard result in a surprisingly front-to-rear balanced rifle. The upper receiver is a heavy walled 7029-T6 aluminum design with a top Picatinny rail for easily and securely mounting optics. The lower receiver is billet 7029-T6 aluminum, with a Hogue rubber pistol grip outfitted. A Two stage match trigger is outfitted, offering a very light first stage with a heavier but very crisp second stage. A Magpul PRS stock is equipped, boasting the rigidity of a fixed stock, but the adjustments of a high-end precision rifle. An ambidextrous magazine release and safety are installed, accommodating any shooter. The stock, upper and lower receiver, and handguard have a durable and practical Flat Dark Earth finish. One 20 round magazine and a Harris bipod are included, and this rifle ships in a padded hard case. Mendeleev was both a teacher and an academic chemist, and in the early 1860s published a prize-winning textbook that placed him at the forefront of chemical education. He was, however, frustrated by the apparent disorder of the chemical elements so set about developing a way to classify them. Other scientists had tried to find ways to arrange the elements since the 18th Century. Just a few years before Mendeleev’s periodic table, the English chemist John Newlands published his ‘Law of Octaves’ which classified the known elements into eight groups in order of their relative atomic masses. However, Newlands’ work was ridiculed at the time and was only formally recognised in 1887. Mendeleev, meanwhile, continued his work to classify the elements. Tradition dictates that he wrote the characteristics of the known elements on cards, and played a game of ‘chemical solitaire’ with them. He apparently fell asleep during one of these card games, and had a dream in which he saw the cards “fall into place”. Mendeleev realised that the features of the elements repeated in a predictable pattern, based on their atomic weight. While this led to there being some gaps or spaces in ‘periods’ where he believed an element should exist, he was able to calculate the missing element’s atomic mass and properties.
