Museum of the Moon is a new touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. Throughout history the moon has inspired artists, poets, scientists, writers and musicians the world over. The moon has always inspired humanity, acting as a ‘cultural mirror’ to society, reflecting the ideas and beliefs of all people around the world. Over the centuries, the moon has been interpreted as a god and as a planet. It has been used as a timekeeper, calendar and been a source of light to aid nighttime navigation. Different cultures around the world have their own historical, cultural, scientific and religious relationships to the moon. And yet somehow, despite these differences, the moon connects us all. The installation is a fusion of lunar imagery, moonlight and surround sound composition created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winning composer Dan Jones. Measuring seven metres in diameter, the moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface. The Museum of the Moon was inspired by Luke’s time in Bristol, noticing the huge tidal variation as he cycled over the Avon Cut each day. Gaia is a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. Measuring seven metres in diameter, Gaia features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface. The artwork provides the opportunity to see our planet on this scale, floating in three-dimensions. The artwork also acts as a mirror to major events in society. In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the artwork may provide the viewer with a new perspective of our place on the planet; a sense that societies of the Earth are all interconnected and that we have a responsibility toward one another. TOGETHER is a spectacular, large-scale art installation filled with video, light, sound and reflection in which audiences can feel part of an immersive, collaborative experience. The artwork is a huge pavilion-like open space in which communities are invited to come together to celebrate their unity and uniqueness. Первообраз иконы Божией Матери, именуемая «Скоропослушница» – древний чудотворный образ, находится на Святой Горе Афон, в монастыре Дохиар. Монастырское предание относит время ее написания к Х веку. В 1664 году трапезарь Нил, проходя в трапезную с зажженной лучиной, услышал от образа Богородицы, висевшего над дверью, голос, призывающий его впредь здесь не ходить и не коптить икону. Монах подумал, что это шутка какого-либо брата, пренебрег знамением и продолжал ходить в трапезную с коптящей лучиной. Внезапно он ослеп. В горьком раскаянии молился Нил перед иконой Божией Матери, умоляя о прощении.
